Name: Possum
Gender: Female
Breed: Roan/husky dumbo rex
DOB: 3/10/09

Other info:
Possum is my current favourite, she's a roan/husky which means she has husky markings along her back but it will get progressivly lighter as she gets older. She also has a rex coat which means her fur and whiskers are curly! She loves cuddles and sitting on my shoulder or curling up in my hair, and once settled she'll quite happily stay there for over an hour. she also is very easy to handle, loves playing around in water. She has also earned the nickname Doobie due to always looking constantly stoned.

Name: Rosetta
Gender: Female
Breed: Hooded dumbo rex
DOB: 3/10/09

Other info:
Rosetta is from the same litter as Possum, she has a rex coat as well. She's very cheeky and always bouncing around the cage and causing mischief. She is very photogenic, as you can see from her picture! She's very easy to handle but has alot of energy and will not stay on my shoulders for more than a few seconds. She loves her food and I can definetly see i'll have to be careful with giving her too much treats or she'll become a real fat rat!

Name: Serenity
Gender: Female
Breed: Hooded dumbo
DOB: 3/10/09

Other info:
Named as a tribute to Firefly, Serenity was a late adoption from Possum and Rosetta's litter. I paid £10 each for Possum and Rosetta but since I had become friends with the girls running the rat rescue they let me have Serenity for free. She was originally called Snap but I felt this didn't suit her calm nature so i renamed her Serenity. She's just as cuddly as Possum and both will quite happily sit on my shoulders whilst I sit at my laptop or watch tv. Lately she has really been proving how much of a delicate lady she is, the most recent of which was her cupping her paws into a water bowl and drinking from her paws!

Name: Tasmania
Gender: Female
Breed: Berkshire
DOB: 26/11/09 (rough dob)

Other info:
As soon as I got Tasmania, the first thing I thought was Tasmanian Devil, hense her name. She was from a petshop in Carlisle bought on christmas eve. I was having a look and she was sat ontop of the waterbottle and when I put my fingers through she just held them and sniffed at my fingers! The pet shop assistant said they were 6 to 8 weeks old, but after I took her home one of my friends said she looked more like 4 weeks old! She's a bundle of energy and totally sweet natured!

Other Info:

Inky and Toffee were my first rats, I got them from Kays pet shop, which I do regret because pet shops are not the best place to get rats from, and they were very skittish from lack of handling when I first got them. Inky warmed up within a few days but Toffee is still sometimes scared of my hands, she is improving just at a much slower rate.
Possum and Rosetta were adopted from a rat rescue when I discovered there was one 5 minute walk away, they were 7 weeks old when I got them! They had been handled from when they were very very young so were really friendly.
Then lastly I got Serenity who was from the same litter, but as I was now friends with the girls from the rat rescue they let me have her for free.

I have kept all sorts of pets since I was little, or rather my parents did. Ive had dogs, cats, rabbits, guineapigs, gerbils, hamsters, and even stick insects at one point. The reason I wanted rats was because of their high intelligence, curious playful nature, and in most cases do not bite aggressivly. I've only had a nip from Inky once that drew a little blood and that was on the first day and it didn't even hurt, she just thought i was food. They're very clean and all do their business in a corner loo tray (although inky has a habit of liking to store food there as well >_>) They wash themselves 40% of their lives apparently.
The only habit that would be considered dirty is that they love to pee on hammocks, but this is just because they're too lazy to get out of bed to go to the bathroom! I change the hammocks around every 2 or 3 days and clean them out every week, and give the cage a proper deep clean every 3/4 weeks, depending on how messy they get it.
I also make all my own hammocks, and I now am offering commissions to those who want them. You can find a link at the top of this page.

.....RIP.....
