Other Info:
Inky and Toffee were my first rats, I got them from Kays pet shop, which I do regret because pet
shops are not the best place to get rats from, and they were very skittish from lack of handling
when I first got them. Inky warmed up within a few days but Toffee is still sometimes scared of my
hands, she is improving just at a much slower rate.
Possum and Rosetta were adopted from a rat rescue when I discovered there was one 5 minute walk
away, they were 7 weeks old when I got them! They had been handled from when they were very very
young so were really friendly.
Then lastly I got Serenity who was from the same litter, but as I was now friends with the girls
from the rat rescue they let me have her for free.

I have kept all sorts of pets since I was little, or rather my parents did. Ive had dogs, cats,
rabbits, guineapigs, gerbils, hamsters, and even stick insects at one point. The reason I wanted
rats was because of their high intelligence, curious playful nature, and in most cases do not bite
aggressivly. I've only had a nip from Inky once that drew a little blood and that was on the first
day and it didn't even hurt, she just thought i was food. They're very clean and all do their
business in a corner loo tray (although inky has a habit of liking to store food there as well >_>)
They wash themselves 40% of their lives apparently.
The only habit that would be considered dirty is that they love to pee on hammocks, but this is
just because they're too lazy to get out of bed to go to the bathroom! I change the hammocks
around every 2 or 3 days and clean them out every week, and give the cage a proper deep clean
every 3/4 weeks, depending on how messy they get it.
I also make all my own hammocks, and I now am offering commissions to those who want them.
